Chrishan Samuel is Head of the Fibrosis Laboratory within the Department of Pharmacology, Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) and is the Deputy Head of Department (Research). He is also Deputy Head of the Cardiovascular Disease Program, Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute. He obtained his PhD from the University of Melbourne (in 1998) before completing his Post-doctoral training at the Department of Dermatology, Stanford University and Molecular Medicine Research Institute (CA, USA); and then the Howard Florey Institute, University of Melbourne (Australia). He was recruited to Monash Pharmacology in 2012. He has over 160 career publications and his research interests are focused on establishing novel therapeutic strategies for fibrosis particularly associated with cardiovascular, renal and pulmonary disease. Since 2002, he has had continuous support of his work from various funding bodies, and has established links with a number of industry partners to commercially develop his key findings.
